As often happens when launching new programs, implementation can bring its own set of challenges. In this case, we learned that engaging vendors (beyond the core Curation group) in achieving a goal—without a clear example of previous work—can lead to ambiguous results.
This was the case with the UCP: our intention was to commission a service focused on defining User Personas and Journeys, yet the outcome turned out to be a UX Audit instead. The Subscan team was satisfied with the final result, but we were left with the sense that more could have been achieved.
From this experience, we’ve learned that when we cannot provide a concrete example of prior work from the Bounty, it should be the vendor’s responsibility to present one. This helps demonstrate both experience and understanding of the expected deliverable.
We still believe this is a necessary program to maintain. Delivering these services through vendors within the Curation group will allow us to build a solid portfolio of reference work. As we do so, we can gradually involve additional vendors to expand the pool in response to growing demand.
